5/2 & 5/3 2017 Live for Today!

One of the things that I have learned on our journey is to live for today! We don’t know what will come tomorrow. We can’t live in the past either. But you must prepare for the future. You should have a Living Will and a regular Will, a Power of Attorney, and a Medical Power of Attorney, etc. Chris and I have always had medical insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, auto insurance and homeowners insurance, maybe more! At times I would think we had TOO much insurance. Now…..I am SO thankful for the insurances we have.

Chris has been getting stronger, resting a lot, eating good and taking it pretty easy. He is doing good, considering everything. We are enjoying being home but we also know we are a phone call away from another round of chemo, a stem cell transplant  and a 4-6 weeks hospital stay.

Thank you Lu for the awesome dinner! (Tom too!)

May 1, 2017 May Day!

It’s the first of May and we have been on this journey for over 2 months. My honey is a trooper. He has been to hell and back and I’m afraid that we will have to visit again. We are waiting for news about Chris’ latest biopsy and blood work. This will determine whether we will return to Columbus for his stem cell transplant OR possibly go to Cleveland for a clinical trial. If we go to Cleveland, the stem cell transplant would be in Cleveland as well. Either way Chris has a minimum of 100 days away from home once we know where we will go. I’m so thankful for the time we have at home.

I have to remind myself that my honey is sick, very sick. I think he tries to make me think that he is good. I know he worries about me too. I tell him I am fine and we just need to worry about him right now. All our energy needs to be on him. Of course I know I need to take care of myself and I think I do. A lot of you make sure to take care of us too. There has not been a time when we have felt alone in this battle. God has been beside us and he has made sure that we know all of you are with us as well.

April 30, 2017 Family Day!

My honey wanted to go to church today. He always enjoys going to church. Chris has often said if his family wouldn’t have come to the states, he would have been a priest in Greece. It brings him great joy when our Jackson helps in the altar. The problem is, Chris isn’t suppose to be around crowds, but we thought if we went to church a little late and left a little early that would be a good plan. He wore his mask the whole time and our plan seemed to work well. We were able to enjoy the service, watch Jackson, and hug up a few of our church family. Our morning was really nice!

Later today we made hamburgers on the grill with our family. I can’t think of a better way to spend our time than with family, friends, and food. Maybe some good  wine too!😃  We have only been home a week, but we have tried to see as many loved ones as we can. I’m not sure when we will leave again but if we don’t get a chance to see you and thank you for all of your love, support and prayers, please let me tell you now. THANK YOU! I told our friend Lori, thank you yesterday! She said she hasn’t done anything and she wishes she could do more. In my eyes, she and all of you are MY support! Love to all!

4/29/2017 First Coffee

Chris had his first coffee in over two months today! He actually said it tasted good. Maybe things are starting to taste “normal” again. Our friends Frixos and Nancy made lunch for us today. A few other friends joined us during lunch, too! This is something we often took for granted….lunch on a Saturday with friends.

My wise little sister reminded me tonight that I need to take one day at a time. I’m usually pretty good at that but sometimes you get caught up in the what ifs. I was worrying about what the doc will tell us on Monday or Tuesday. What if he says this?  Then I’ll have to do that and so on. Obviously you can drive yourself crazy. So I’ve been reminded not to do that! I’m just going to enjoy Sunday with my husband of almost 41 years!

God bless you all!

4/28/2017 Roller Coaster!

You may or may not know that I hate roller coasters! Today Chris, Clark, Cindy and I were on one for about 5 hours! We went from thinking we were going for a consultation for Chris’ stem cell transplant to a Clincal Trial in Cleveland or Columbus, back to a Stem Cell transplant in Columbus. Oh but first they did a “quick” bone marrow biopsy (I got to watch and it was REALLY cool!) and a couple more blood draws! I need a glass of wine! Now we wait till the first part of next week to see what the results are! I have a headache. 🤕 Maybe I should have a margarita! Lol!

On our way down to Columbus, I like to take a two lane road just for fun. We passed a Dairy Queen so I asked Chris if he wanted to stop. We had passed it and he didn’t want me to turn around, so he said no. On the way back today he was talking about the Dairy Queen before we left Columbus. Problem was that we weren’t sure which little town it was in. When we got to a place where Chris thought the Dairy Queen was at and we couldn’t find it, he was grumbling that I was going too fast thru the town (Speed limit was 35!) and he thought we missed it. I said, Hon, I think it’s in the next town. (Dunkirk by the way.) If you know how Chris is about food, you know how happy I was that we didn’t miss that Dairy Queen! That would have been the story you all would be hearing from Chris for the next month or so! Phew! I could still use that margarita by the way!😃

Have a good night everyone!
