4/17/2017 Fever Day!

My honey has been having fevers all day, off and on! Also his blood pressure has been up and down! Argh! Just when we think it’s going good…..BAM! They wound up pulling his PICC line due to possible infection. A IV was put in both arms! He threw up while they were putting the IVs in! OMG! Our good friend, Lori, said that Chris just wanted to try every side effect! 😊 Our poor nurses, Erin (RN) and Sam (CPA) had to stay an hour later, after their 12 hour shift, until they could get Chris stabilized! Those boring days I spoke of before, I would like them to come back please!

I’m watching my tough, strong guy sleep. His ribs are showing thru his gown. He has to lay flat for a hour after they took his PICC line out. He won’t be able to bend his arms due to where the IVs were placed. He has to have ice packs under his arms and on his neck to help bring down his fever. Did I say OMGoodness? Through all this he still has a positive attitude. It’s not hard to take care of him because he is so sweet! (Most of the time!😊)

Thank you for letting me share all of my thoughts, prayers, sadness, happiness and what I would call “wisdom” during our journey! Love to all!

4/16/17 Christos Anesti & Happy Easter!

We hope you all had a Happy Easter! We enjoyed a delicious Greek meal here at the OSU/James with Clark, Cindy,  Emily and Ben. Thank you all for being here in Columbus with us! We missed the rest of our family! Our Canadian family! Our family in Florida! Our families and friends, that are like family, in several cities in Ohio! Oh, our extended family in the St. Louis area too! Don’t worry Grace, I didn’t forget about you and Logan!

Chris and I both come from large families, as you may know. When our two Easters coincide we would either have two separate get togethers or we would have a Big Fat Easter all together. This year ALL of us were not able to get together. Our families had several small Easter gatherings. Although we couldn’t be together, we had some FaceTime, text messages and sent videos to each other. I hope and prayer that you were able to be with your loved ones today and if not that you were able to reach out to your family and friends.

Chris still isn’t feeling great, he has had a low grade fever and low blood pressure off and on today. The doctors say this is just what happens sometimes. I say again, if this is the worst we have to deal with, we will be just fine! On a good note, his WBC continues to go up, 4.14 today! 👍 We are still waiting for a number on his neutrophils, they haven’t been high enough yet.

XOXO

4/15/2017 OSU Spring Game

It was a good day down here in Columbus! OSU Spring game was today. Chris was able to watch it on TV. Plus they had highlights of last years MI vs OH game which was fun to watch. I was a little concerned because I heard how crazy it gets with all the people and parking problems. It wasn’t bad but this was just a warm up for the fall craziness.

Chris’ white blood count is up to 2.87 today! Pray that these are the best white blood cells EVER! Hemoglobin and platelets were low but not low enough to need a transfusion. Things were going along pretty good till this evening. He has a temperature of 100.9. Now if it was 100.4 or lower it isn’t such a big deal but over that, there could be an infection, and that IS a big deal! So blood work, chest X-rays, Tylenol and more antibiotics were needed. During his chemo he had a inflammation or infection in his bowels, so it could be that again. Or it could be an infection somewhere else. Problem is that he can’t go home if he is still on antibiotics. PRAY! We were looking at Wednesday as a possible discharge day but we still need to take one day at a time.

Due to possible infections, Chris needing to rest and trying to figure out his new schedule with doctor appointments and all, when we get home we have decided that it would be best if he doesn’t have visitors for the first week. After that we will see how he is doing and I would ask that you call me in advance to see if you can stop by for a short visit. It got a little crazy when we were at Toledo Hospital so I just need to make sure he has time to rest and heal! Love you all and we are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Christos Anesti!

4/14/2017 Good Friday

Not only is it Good Friday, it is a GOOD FRIDAY! Chris’ white blood count is finally moving, up to 1.63 today. Doc said moving day is getting closer! He needed some blood today and this is another reason we can’t check out of here just yet.

Chris received a nice goodie basket today from our friends at 2J! Thank you Larry and crew! His cousin Pete was here today and brought a goodie BAG! Thank you too Pete! Chris has received SO may cards with well wishes, prayers and and the kindest words! We thank all of you for taking time to let us know you are thinking about Chris. Elaine planted flowers at our home for Chris to see when we get there. Lu and Tom put up our amazing picture wall that we love every minute of every day! Others have made sure that I was good so Chris doesn’t have to worry about me. Our crew at Maumee Valley is taking care of our business. Several people brought Chris’ Mom down to see him. When we were in Toledo some of you would feed us. Others came from near and far to make sure Chris knew that he was loved and that an abundance of prayers were being prayed for us! Chris and I are overwhelmed by the love, support and prayers that you have all sent our way. Thanking all of you for the rest of our lives wouldn’t be enough. We are truly blessed!

4/13/2017 No News

Hello All!

I am thrilled to say I have no news! The only thing I can mention is that Chris’ white blood count went up to .9 today! It’s a start in the right direction. Chris is eating decent, poop is regular and good consistency, he is walking, playing rummy, napping, showering, resting good at night and then starting over the next day! On the nice days I try to get him outside to soak up some sunshine.

Have I told you all what a wonderful sweet man Chris is? I bet a lot of you already know. He is kind, considerate, loving, generous, sweet, feisty, smart, ornery, honest, hard worker and a wonderful husband, father and son! You might have a few more ways to describe Chris and I bet they would all be positive. I am very blessed to be his wife of almost 41 years!  Do you know we were married twice? One of Chris favorite things to tell people is that “he has one child from each marriage and his kids have the same mother”!? 🤔

Chris and I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter! Also thank you for your continued prayers! We love you all!
