Friday April 7th! YES!!

Hello Loved Ones!

Doc said the bone marrow biopsy was………CLEAR!!! Low white blood count, .6, but the ones that were there were good! Now they didn’t go all the way to the word “remission”, but he was very positive about the results. Like walking in the room pumping his fists in the air positive! Another victory! Chris is still fighting the war but he is winning one battle at a time!

So this is the time to watch all of his numbers go up, day by day. I’m glad for The Masters because he loves golf, as we all know, and that will keep him busy for a few days. I’m sure we will walk, maybe catch a Hallmark movie, eat together, visit with our guests, play some cards, etc. The time will pass.

Could Chris be able to come home soon? I think I see a little light at the end of the tunnel. Dare we get excited? I still need to just take one day at a time and that is what I will do! PRAY!

Good night all!

April 6, 2017 Thanks Nancy!

Chris had a bone marrow biopsy today, so we are waiting, again to see where our journey will take us next. His numbers are still not changing much. PRAY!

You have all sent us love, support, prayers and kind gifts! We are so thankful for all of you!  I received a letter from our friend Nancy and I wanted to share some of it with you.

She wrote that “An alleged writer cannot capture the hopes and prayers that many of you have for Chris’ recovery and return to good health!”

She said that “his joking and dancing and general good humor would make others laugh, enjoy the moment, and perhaps take a look at themselves.”

Nancy went on to say “Chris teaches love, for a job well done, love for family, and love for his church.”

She mentioned me “grinning and nodding and always playing along with what Chris is saying.”

My favorite part, “Together they define the words family, sisters, children, grandkids.”

Lastly she writes, “We all see two people, we love and respect, working so hard together to beat Leukemia.” “It’s no wonder visitors paraded through Chris’ Toledo Hospital room, we all care.” “We want to show them, with our gifts of food, and cards, and time we visit.”

Thank you Nancy! THANK YOU ALL!

4/5/2017 What a beautiful day!

Our morning started out gray and cool, but the afternoon was amazing! Sunny and 74 degrees! It was also a beautiful day because Chris is doing well. He is up and walking, eating decent, feeling good, and getting feisty! Counts are still low, he needed platelets today, along with the usual antibiotics, magnesium and other medicines.

Chris doesn’t like the food here at the OSU/James. He says that there is only 5 things on the menu, but there is 3 pages of different things. The problem is he will only TRY 5 things. I also think part of the problem is he doesn’t get the food the way he ordered it. He did love the food at Toledo Hospital though. One of my previous posts mentioned that. Most likely the chemo IS the problem. As much as we try to explain that to him, he just won’t hear it. Maybe I’ll have him put his hearing aids in and tell him again! 😊

Chris is so excited to be able to watch the Masters all he wants. We all have strict instructions to not talk to him while it is on TV. He is VERY encouraging about me trying to go home or shopping or basically anything so I’m not hanging in his room. This is how I can tell he is feeling better, plus he wants me to get out and do something I enjoy, while he is good! Or it could be that he just wants to watch the Masters!

April 4, 2017 Uneventful

It was a pretty uneventful day today! All blood counts are much the same. Platelets are still dropping though, down to 14 today. We were told that Chris will get another bone marrow biopsy this Thursday. The results will determine what happens next.

There has been a card and a package sent to Chris here at OSU/James that had his first room number on it and for some reason they were returned to the sender.  His correct room is #1546. If you need address information, let me know or contact our kids and they can help with that info.

Our Kumbota, Aleca, bought my Mom-in-law down today to visit. I don’t know who misses who more, Chris or Mama? Cindy, Aleca and I found the Cheryl’s cookie store!  What a wonderfully bad mistake that was! 😏 If you enjoy sweets and never had one of those cookies, I recommend that you don’t try them! Lol!

Chris and I have been invited to a couple weddings, a 80th birthday party and there are a couple holidays coming in the next couple months! As I’m sure you can understand , we don’t know if we can come or not. Right now we can only plan one day at a time. Please know that if we can’t make it, our thoughts  and prayers will be with all of you and we will miss everyone too! Hugs and kisses!

4/3/2017 A Quiet Day!

Good Evening!

When I say a quiet day I mean quiet! As I had said our kids were here yesterday, so the busy and noisy day made today extra quiet and a little sad.

Chris is still doing well. I’m really amazed at how well. Of course he sleeps often, forces himself to eat, and has to take a bunch of medicine, but he is doing good. One day at a time, our prayers are being answered! His white blood count went up to .4 from .3, they need to be at 5.0-10.0. Platelets are still dropping, but at 25 he doesn’t need to have any platelets given to him until it gets below 10.  Chris gained 5 lbs. so he is at a whole 155 lbs.!

So we might get to go home in two weeks!! We are both excited about that but we know we can’t bank on it happening, at least not yet! I can’t help wondering how it will be.  Will he be able to work in his garden? Will he be able to work at The Valley? Will he feel like going to dinner? Will he feel like cooking or barbecuing? Will he be able to drive? So many questions! I know he will be able to sleep in our bed! I know we can sit together on our sofa and watch TV! I know we can take walks! I know I can drive him wherever he feels up to going! I know he will LOVE just being home! I also know that I will LOVE being there with him! To be continued……
