We hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Our Orthodox Easter was yesterday and we were able to have a wonderful meal with our family. Thank you again George and Dimitra. Even though it wasn’t warm, the sun was shining and it wasn’t too muddy to have the egg hunt outside.

Chris started his radiation treatments last week and things are going good so far. We were told that the leukemia mass they are treating responds well to radiation. The radiation will shrink the mass which in turn should help him to have less pain and more comfort. They also stopped his chemo infusions but he continues to take oral chemo medicine. My honey is losing weight again but he has been really good about drinking the Ensure supplements. He likes chocolate and strawberry the best. Of course he eats food, just not enough to keep his weight up it seems.

We have come home the last couple weekends and we have been able to see, chat with and visit many of you. It is always nice to be able to do that. I think our visits and all of you, give us strength to continue on this journey. I am really thankful for that. Chris seems to perk up with your fist bumps, hugs and words of encouragement. Thank you all. Love and hugs and fist bumps! 😊

Dearest Friends and Family:

I pray this post finds you doing well. Chris’ battle with leukemia continues and he isn’t winning. After last weeks stay in the hospital he is feeling better. His pain is managed, the infection in his blood seems to have cleared up with antibiotics and the steroids he is taking have been helping with his appetite among other things. His white blood count, hemoglobin and platelets are holding steady.

With our Holy Week being this week, we hope to go to church here in Columbus one night and we are trying to make it to our church for service on Saturday morning. 🙏 Maybe we will see you!

Me I’m doing okay. Some minutes are better than others. My sister Lu, mentioned that she got a cold sore on her mouth from some recent stress, guess what popped up on my lower lip less than 7 hours later??? If only that was my worst problem, right?

Our prayer for you during this Holy Week is peace, love, health and faith that God will help us through all of life’s ups and downs.

Hi everyone!

Chris got out of the hospital yesterday. He is feeling better. It was a little scary there for a minute. I’m very thankful for all of the doctors, nurses and nurse practitioners at The James. Everyone there is very kind and very knowledgeable. I would recommend the OSU James Cancer hospital to anyone that would listen.

Right now my honey is scheduled to start radiation treatments on Wednesday. The treatments were supposed to start last week but that didn’t happen for some reason. I’m praying that Chris can continue to be strong through these treatments over the next couple weeks. We always say that my honey is the healthiest sick guy we know.

Our kids and our grandchildren are coming down for a visit this weekend. We are so looking forward to seeing them all. We wish you all will have the same type of joy our grandchildren bring to us.

Finally, last year during Holy Week, Chris was in the hospital here in Columbus. Again we find ourselves in Columbus. He will miss the services this week. Light a candle for us if you can.

Chris’ medical team has been busy getting him ready to start radiation, trying to get an infection under control as well as finding the right dose of medicine for his pain. Yesterday was so busy with people coming in and out and tests, that my Honey couldn’t take a nap for more than a few minutes. Of course, we all know that the hospital IS NOT the place to get rest!

This week I have been reminded of one of the ways my honey spoils me. The nights have been cold and I don’t have a warm garage to park in so I have to get in a very cold car! Poor me lol!

Chris and I often talk about how blessed we are with our children and grandchildren, or wonderful family and friends, our business, our church, etc. Sometimes we would forget to remember how blessed we are to have EACH OTHER! When you are counting YOUR blessings don’t forget the special person that is right beside you!!

My honey has had a terrible week. Of all the things I’ve had to watch him endure over these 13 months, this last week has been very difficult. Chris has been dealing with some of the worse pain. What takes some time is trying to figure out the best kind of medicine to help him. Then they have to figure out the dose he needs. I feel helpless because I am totally unable to help him. No pillow or warm blanket or cup of tea or soup or cuddling or, well you get the picture, helps. That said, my Superman is back in the hospital. His hemoglobin was very low so he needed a blood transfusion AND when we were at his appointment he spiked a fever. Add in his pain, lack of appetite and I think he was dehydrated, too. He was also unable to eat food for the last few days and was back to drinking the Ensures that he so loves. 😊 Keep praying for him!
