October 9, 2017 It’s Official!

We get to go home!!!! About a month earlier than we had expected! The power of prayer is awesome! We will never know how many prayers were said for Chris and I, but we are so thankful for each and every one of them. Chris still has weekly clinic appointments, so most likely we will be home 5 out of 7 days a week for the next month or so. I’ll take that for sure!

Chris’ body seems to be running with Elaine’s awesome bone marrow. We laugh because Elaine LOVES to eat salads and veggies and since Chris got out of the hospital he has been craving salads. He liked salads before but now a salad is his meal sometimes or he has a salad with his meal often. 😁 As long as he doesn’t start menopause I’m good! 😂

Obviously he still has quite a way to go. My honey will have another bone marrow biopsy the first part of December. He will also be monitored closely for two years. I’m praying for a all clear after his biopsy! Won’t that be a awesome Christmas present? I can’t think of anything better.  Can you believe I just mentioned Christmas? Where does time go?

Hope to see everyone of you soon! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

10/3/2017 Still hanging in Columbus

Happy Tuesday everyone! We are still enjoying Columbus but so looking forward to coming home to Toledo. Chris is doing well, it’s just amazing to everyone except his doctor I think. 😊 He is eating much more normal and food is tasting good again. He walks a mile or so a day, but he still has to stop and rest once or twice. Yesterday was the first time he walked more than a strolling pace. It didn’t last long but it’s an improvement that I was excited about.

I can’t write my blog today without saying how sad and shocked we are about the tragedy in Las Vegas. Chris and I have enjoyed numerous vacations there and hopefully many more in the future. All I know to do is pray for all of the people that have been injured or murdered, I pray for the doctors and nurses caring for them, I’ll pray for their family and friends, also prayers for all of the first responders and huge prayers that this NEVER happens again!

9/28/2017 Hello from Columbus!

Hope you are all doing well! Our time in Columbus will end sooner than we thought. Chris is doing well and therefore we are hoping to get to come home almost a month sooner than we had originally thought!! When he only needs to go to the clinic once a week we should be able to go home and continue to recover at home! Answered prayers!

My honey’s desire for and quantity of food he is eating, is getting better. Some foods still don’t taste quite right though. Like before, if this is all we need to deal with I’m good! Chris has stopped losing weight and has even gained a couple pounds, so things are looking up.

I don’t know about you but I’m sure thankful for the break in the heat wave we were having! Chris can’t be in the sun due to his medications so we would have to wait till evening to go for a walk. We walked almost 2 miles the other day! Along the way we stop and rest on someone’s small brick wall or a random bench. Lol! I’m very pleased and proud of how hard my honey is trying to get better. He is my Superman!

9/24/2017 Surprise!

By now many of you know that Chris and I were granted a trial weekend home! 😊 Chris’ doctor said that going home is great for recovery and, of course, we agreed wholeheartedly!

My honey still has a way to go, in his recovery, but he is coming along nicely. I think for us, it is good we are in Columbus, our days are sometimes boring but that is what we need so we can focus on Chris getting better.

One bad/good thing coming home has made us realize is that we will need to try to stay on a schedule as far as his medicines are concerned. It is a little challenge when we are in Columbus but being home this weekend was a bit harder to make sure Chris was taking his meds when and how he was suppose to. One medicine is to be taken 1 hour before he eats or 2 hours after, twice a day. Another one he takes 4 times a day but he can’t eat or drink for a hour after. Before February Chris was taking one blood pressure pill a day! Now……..!

Hope you all enjoyed this beautiful weekend as much or more than we have, although I don’t think you could have enjoyed it more, lol! Love and prayers to all!

9/21/2017 Our Zoe is 7!!!!!

It is our Zoe’s birthday today! Our daughter, Jan and her family, moved back to Toledo right before Zoe was born. Our son-in-law, Randy, had just completed 9 years in the Navy! They lived with us for about a year at that time. I can’t tell you how special it was to have little ones living in our home again! Happy Birthday to our Zoe Bear!

Chris is doing well. Still losing weight though. The nutritionist told him he needs 2000 calories a day! He and Cindy added it up and on a good day he was getting about 1200-1400 calories a day!!!! My honey is the kind of guy that needs to see it in black and white for it to sink in. Plus he has been walking and doing yoga so he really needs to get 2000+ calories! This has given him a bit of a challenge, something to work on, keep his mind a little busy.

My honey is at Day +50! Halfway to the all important Day +100 after transplant. Keep praying! Love to all!
