3/31/2017 Chemo is done for now!

Hello Everyone!

Hip Hip Hooray! Seven days of chemo are complete! That’s the good news. Not so good news is Chris feels like crap. Tired, lack of appetite, diarrhea, thirsty all the time, etc. All effects of chemo but still tough to handle. The other problem is too much time. Five weeks in the hospital is tough and we are looking at at least two more just this round. Over the next several months, while his body is recovering, he will have to go back to the hospital for 5-7 days, per month to have chemo again, as a preventive measure. The chemo treatment will be less severe than this last round. Treatments will continue while they find and establish a good bone marrow donor and have a bed available. Is this all so crazy to you as it is to me?

We got to see our grand babes, Amalia, Zoe and Teddy today! We haven’t seen them in almost two weeks. The last time we have gone without seeing them that long was when Randy was in the Navy, before Zoe was born, 6 years ago. Chris was happy to see them and tried his best to hang in there as long as he could. It was good for him to be with them to remind him why he needs to be strong and hang in there.

One day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time. I remind Chris that this is how we get through this time. One day we will look back on this and it will be a not so fond memory. But I think there will be some good memories of this time too. The kindness, love, support, and prayers that you all have given us has been an unbelievable blessing. Thank you! Thank you!
